There is no scientific name for Alzheimer's disease , it is simply called Alzheimer's Disease.

What is Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder , a very common form of dementia. Dementia is when the brain has some sort of disorder or loss of mental functions such as consistent memory loss , sudden mood changes and communication problems . Dementia is progressive which means that it will get worse as time passes. Dementia has become more and more common amongst the elderly.In recent recordings , the number of people who have dementia doubles every five years.Although a lot of forms of dementia are reversible and can be completely treated.Unfortunately, Alzheimer's disease is one of those that are irreversible which means that it can not be fully cured.

Alzheimer's disease was first found by a German doctor named Dr.Alois Alzheimer. Dr.Alzheimer noticed that their were unusual changes in the brain of a woman who had died of unusual sickness. After she died , Dr.Alzheimer examined her brain and found abnormal clumps(now know as amyloid plaques) , tangled bundles of fibre(now known as neurofibrillary tangles) and some missing connections of the neuron.Refer to figure 1.

What causes Alzheimer's Disease
Although there is no definite explanation to what causes Alzheimer's disease but scientists are still trying to fully understand the cause of it. The main cause is still unfounded but there are some risk factors that may increase the chance for having Alzheimer's disease.

Aging , for those that have past the age of 65 already have 20% of developing Alzheimer's disease , when they reach 80 the chances turn to almost 50%.

Family history also plays a role in causing Alzheimer's disease to occur. A person who's grandparents had Alzheimer's disease would be two or three more times more likely to have Alzheimer's disease compared to a normal person would

Brain health is important link to having Alzheimer's disease. This is because Alzheimer's disease is about damaged brain tissue and tangled bundles of fiber. So if a person received a head injury he would have increased the chance of having Alzheimer's disease

What are the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease? How long will it last? Is it deadly?
There are 10 warning signs for Alzheimer's disease that should be easily noticed by the victim and those around him.

1)Memory loss
Forgetting information that was learned or explained recently. Asking for the same information over and over again.Relying on family members to remember certain dates and events,

2)Challenges in solving problems
Having problems with concentrating. Take longer time to do certain things than when they usually do.Having problems keeping note of appointments

3)Difficulty completing familiar tasks
Forgetting rules in a certain game that they often play. Forgetting what hobbies they usually do when they are at their leisure time

4)Confusion with time and place
They may go to a place for a particular reason but forget what the reason was.

5)Trouble Understanding Visual Images
They may have difficulty in reading , color contrast or even judging distances

6)Problems with communicating
Having problems to join conversation.They repeat themselves in the middle of a conversation.They may struggle with vocabulary.

7)Losing the ability to place objects and retrace steps
Having problems placing the object in its original place after taking it away.Losing its sense of direction

8)Poor judgment
They manage unusual amounts of money and are not able to perform management task

9)Withdrawal from work and social activities
They notice that they begin to change and so they withdraw from work and social activities that include watching their favorite sport with friends.

10)Mood Changes
Their mood can change very suddenly at times.

All of the above symptoms with last until Alzheimer's disease takes away the victims life. They are incurable.

Alzheimer's disease is a very deadly disease. The reason is because it is incurable. At its first stage , the victim starts to suffer from several of the above symptoms such as memory loss and mood changes. The second stage , the victim can no longer do his daily tasks without the aid of people reminding and assisting in him , he will start to have problems with communication and judgment. The third stage is when the victim becomes mentally unstable as well as needing a person by his side at all times. The final stage is when the victim dies.
